“We Are One”
The remarkable aspect among Korean-American church is in two types of congregations which are Korean Ministry and English Ministry. What is main base line for those two ministries? It is definitely language. If a person is convenient using Korean, then he or she can go to Korean Ministry; and the person who is convenient using English can join the English Ministry. The main reason our church has been maintaining these two different types of ministry is very simple. Our church really helps for all church members to understand the real meaning of Gospel and the Words of God. The core value of church life is absolutely in clear understanding of the Gospel and the Scripture. That is one and only reason why our church has KM and EM. There is no other reason beside it.
What we should know is that all church members belong to one church which is Global Mission Church whether you are in KM or EM. We are attending different types of worship service because of language preference. However we should know that we are parts of one church which is the body of Christ. Sadly we, KM and EM, don’t know each other. KM members seem to treat EM members as just forever kids. Surprisingly most of EM members are composed of 30’s and 40’s. EM members seem to treat KM members as old fashioned people who tend to be meddlers. It is heartbreaking for us. The lack of understanding each other can be the main reason why we pass each other every Sunday just with simple hi’s and bye’s.
I once had an embarrassing experience. One of the EM members didn’t recognize me. After another EM member informed him that I was the senior pastor of GMC, he apologized to me. That experience made me feel guilty and alert. I realized that I hadn’t spent enough time with EM members. Lack of fellowship caused us to have awkward relationship. That’s why we need to have time to get to know each other. Today’s third worship service is prepared to focus on unity. We are gathering together regardless of which ministry you belong to, and what kind of language you use. It doesn’t matter where you are in. We are one. When we have attention to the Lord, we will really become one. Let’s praise our Lord. Let’s do our best to bless each other.
Warmly,
Your Senior Pastor Daniel Ki m
